    Clear spells and some fog patches at first in west but these gradually lifting as cloudier skies spread up from the southeast. Becoming breezy along the Galloway coast. Minimum Temperature 0 °C.

    Friday:

    A mostly cloudy day but other than some spots of drizzle mainly over the hills it will be dry. Maximum Temperature 6 °C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Mostly dron on Saturday but some rain spreading to the southwest. Some heavier rain later Sunday with gales, then colder with wintry showers on Monday.

    UK forecast for the next 5 days

    Cloudy for many, sunnier in the northwest. Some fog persisting.

    Today:

    Largely dry, aside from some patchy rain in the east. Fog will gradually lift but perhaps linger all day in some spots, where it will remain cold. Rather cloudy for most with the best of the sunshine in the northwest.

    Tonight:

    Remaining cloudy with hill fog and drizzle in east and southeastern England. There will be clearer spells further west with a patchy frost and fog reforming or thickening.

    Friday:

    Morning fog patches on Friday clearing to a mainly cloudy day with the odd spot of drizzle. Brighter spells in the west will be replaced by cloud and strengthening winds.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Mainly dry and cloudy on Saturday, but rain in far west. Some brighter spells Sunday, but wind and rain in the northwest later, moving southeast on Monday, wintry showers following.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 16 Jan 2018 to Thursday 25 Jan 2018:

    Sunny spells and blustery showers will extend across the UK to start this period. These showers will turn wintry in places, particularly in the north and some of them will be heavy with a risk of thunder and hail. Unsettled conditions will then continue, with further showers or longer spells of rain at times which may also give some snow, mainly in the north. Wet weather will be interspersed by brighter, showery interludes. Often it is going to be windy, with gales or severe gales at times. Overall there will be a cold feel with frost overnight under clear skies but milder spells are also expected at times, especially in the south. Later on in January we may see a slighty drier and more settled interlude, particularly across southern parts.

    UK Outlook for Friday 26 Jan 2018 to Friday 9 Feb 2018:

    Through this period the generally unsettled weather will most likely continue, with spells of rain and strong winds at times. While confidence is low at this stage, it looks most likely that northwestern areas will see the strongest winds and most frequent spells of rain, with southern and eastern parts perhaps seeing somewhat drier conditions. However, there may be some more settled weather in between weather systems too, bringing an increased risk of overnight frost and fog to the whole of the UK. Temperatures will be below average to start the period, but are expected to trend back towards normal towards the end of the period.
