    Remaining cloudy with some mist at times, as well as some patchy rain, this becoming heavier at times overnight. Fresh to strong southeast winds over Shetland, lighter over Orkney. Minimum Temperature 10 °C.

    Friday:

    Shetland will stay dull and increasingly misty with some patchy rain. Early strong winds easing. Orkney looks brighter and drier with some sunshine but low cloud may push in later. Maximum Temperature 14 °C.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Rain pushing north on Saturday followed by sunshine and showers. Bright with some showers on Sunday and lighter winds. Changeable start to the new week with rain or showers.

    Some rain for central parts, and in the west later.

    Today:

    Although there will be some dry and bright weather, rain will affect northern and some central parts through the day. Heavy rain expected in the Northern Ireland and other western parts this afternoon, with coastal gales developing in the southwest.

    Tonight:

    Cloudy and windy with spells of rain, some of this heavy at first. The rain will become lighter during the early hours with the wind slowly easing too.

    Friday:

    Rain across central and southern parts will clear slowly through the day leaving a good deal of dry and bright weather. Further rain will spread into the west by evening.

    Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

    Very unsettled on Saturday with rain and strong to gale force winds. Winds slowly ease on Sunday with a mix of sunshine and showers. Further rain is expected on Monday.

    UK Outlook for Tuesday 24 Oct 2017 to Thursday 2 Nov 2017:

    Tuesday and Wednesday look generally rather windy with gales possible in exposed areas, especially in the northwest. There will be showers or longer spells of rain for many, perhaps persistent in the south. Confidence in the forecast reduces during the remainder of October into early November. However, a northwest to southeast split is most likely. The northwest should continue with some wet and windy weather interspersed by brief brighter, showery interludes, whilst the southeast will be best placed to have more prolonged drier spells. Temperatures are most likely to be slightly above normal. Having said this there is a chance of more settled, colder conditions becoming established with morning fog patches, especially in the south.

    UK Outlook for Friday 3 Nov 2017 to Friday 17 Nov 2017:

    Confidence in the forecast during this period is very low. However, on balance it appears that the early part of November will most likely be changeable with near average temperatures. There is an increasing chance of more prolonged settled spells developing by the end of the first week of November, which may continue into mid month, especially in the south. This would lead to an increased chance of frost and fog. However, northern areas could hold onto more in the way of wind and rain at times. Temperatures should stay mostly near or perhaps slightly above average, although probably dipping to below average in any more settled spells.
