General situation

A deepening Atlantic low will move eastwards across Ireland on Friday and into the Irish Sea early Saturday, bringing gales to storm force winds for a time in the southwestern areas. The low will move away east through Saturday with winds easing off.

Channel Islands - Strong wind warning

24 hour forecast: Southwest 4 occasionally 5 veering west 5 to 6 by midday, backing southwest 6 to 7 this evening, veering west 7 to gale 8 around midnight, occasionally severe gale 9 mid channel overnight and veering west to northwest by dawn.
