Description

EN3_v2a_NoCWT_WijffelsTable1XBTCorr is based on EN3_v2a. It has had the cold water tapering that is applied to some XBT corrections removed. Then, the corrections to XBT depths from Table 1 of Wijffels et al. (2008) have been applied. Please note that the corrections are only defined between 01/1968 and 01/2005. Outside this time range the corrections are kept constant. Also note that Levitus et al. (2009) identified possible issues with these corrections from the mid-1990s onward based on applying them to their own database. Investigations suggest that the data available here also exhibit this issue, so care should be taken when using them.

These files will be updated periodically with the most recent data, although not as frequently as for EN3_v2a. However, as the XBT bias corrections are not defined beyond 2005, caution should be exercised if using data from that date onwards.

How to download

Use the links on the left to download the dataset a year at a time. Only profile data are available.

If you require the whole dataset one way to do this is to use wget. To do this download the file below (and edit it if not all files are required).
EN3_v2a_NoCWT_WijffelsTable1XBTCorr_Profiles_download_list.txt

Assuming that you are in the directory into which the data are to be copied and that the downloaded file is also in that directory, the download can then be initiated by typing at the command line:
wget -i EN3_v2a_NoCWT_WijffelsTable1XBTCorr_Profiles_download_list.txt

Note: the above method was written for Linux systems but should also be applicable to other operating systems with wget installed.
