The current version of the HadCET dataset, along with provisional values for the current year, are available to
view and download from this page.
The data files are updated daily at around midday.
The daily series include values up to two days prior to the current date.
The latest monthly and seasonal values are added two days after the end of the period.
Current version: v2.1.0.0 + Provisional (2025 onwards)
The current version of HadCET is based on the scientific methodology used for the V2 series as described in Parker et al (1992) and Legg et al (2025).
Legacy versions of the HadCET dataset are now available for download from the CEDA Archive data collection - link
to CEDA Archive.
The files in the archived versions of the dataset are stored in BADC-CSV format with metadata included alongside
the values.
However, the values can be copied out in a CSV format.
As well as containing the HadCET daily/monthly/seasonal series and ranked table files, the version controlled
datasets on CEDA also contain the static urban and station homogenisation adjustments and post-1974
adjustments to Manley's temperature series.
All version controlled datasets on CEDA are fully DOI'd and available for citation.
If you want to cite the HadCET dataset in a scientific paper, ensure that the correct version number is
referenced
and DOI included from the CEDA archive dataset.
All files are output as plain text files. This format was chosen to allow users to easily view the CET values
through this webpage.
These values can be imported into an Excel spreadsheet using "text to columns" with a space
delimiter.
The file layout and naming conventions of the HadCET values and ranked table files can be found here.
The series files available for download below only contain the actual HadCET values and not the
anomalies.
Instructions on how to calculate HadCET temperature anomalies against a particular climatological period can be
found here.
