New research from the Met Office reveals that we spend on average 56.6 hours, or two days and 9 hours, talking about the weather over the course of a year.

There’s uncertainty into the latter part of the Bank Holiday weekend, with a change to unsettled weather possible. The remnants of Hurricane Erin could also influence the UK weather into next week.  

Provisional statistics from the Met Office show that summer 2025 is shaping up to be one of the warmest on record.

The latest report on global climate change highlights the impact of higher global temperatures on the water cycle, with atmospheric water vapour levels reaching record levels during 2024.

Another warm day is expected across much of the UK today, with temperatures climbing into the low to mid-30s in eastern England. Highest temperatures could reach 33 to 34°C, with a chance of 32°C in isolated parts of southeast.

The first satellite in a series of six that will launch over the next fifteen years takes flight this week [13 August] as part of an international project to advance global observations to enhance weather forecast accuracy.

The UK has had its fifth warmest July on record, according to provisional Met Office statistics.
