Forecast summary

Regional forecast for Northern Ireland

Clearing skies and a widespread frost tonight.

This Evening and Tonight:

Any showers soon die out for most this evening, although the odd shower is possible in the far west overnight. Clear skies and easing winds will lead to a widespread ground frost away from the north coast. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.

Wednesday:

A chilly start, but dry and sunny for most with cloudier conditions in the far west. Cloud spreads to all areas through the morning with scattered showers in the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

A rather cloudy start expected on Thursday, patchy light rain possible. However, mostly dry and becoming brighter with a few sunny breaks. Mainly dry and bright on Friday and Saturday.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Staying cold tonight and Wednesday, with showers dying out.

This Evening and Tonight:

Windy with further showers, some still giving hail, sleet and snow, across central and eastern parts. Showers dying out elsewhere, becoming confined to western and northern coasts. A cold night with widespread frost for inland areas.

Wednesday:

Showers gradually becoming confined to eastern and then south-eastern parts of the UK, leaving many places dry. Clouding over across the north-west of the UK with rain later. Feeling cold.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Outbreaks of rain will move south-eastwards across the UK during Thursday. Mainly dry thereafter with some sunshine and temperatures slowly returning to nearer normal. Overnight frosts becoming less widespread too.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Sunday 30 Apr 2017 to Tuesday 9 May 2017:

The tail end of the Bank Holiday weekend looks more unsettled, with rain, already across some west and south-western parts of the UK, extending across the rest of the country. Rain could be heavy across south-western areas, and it will be increasingly windy for many. However, some north-eastern areas could stay dry throughout the long weekend, and temperatures will generally be near or slightly below normal. Tuesday will remain on the wet and windy side, but as next week progresses, drier, more settled and increasingly sunny weather should become established. South-east England is expected to see this change first. Temperatures are likely to respond too with some places becoming very warm, but the main uncertainty is just how quickly this change occurs.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 10 May 2017 to Wednesday 24 May 2017:

High pressure appears to be in charge during the middle part of May, with temperatures likely to be above average, possible very warm at times. It also looks drier than average, especially across the north-west of the UK, with central and southern Britain perhaps seeing some wetter weather occasionally. Towards the end of May, indications on a particular weather type are less certain, with temperatures likely to be closer to normal; some pleasantly warm days but some chilly nights. Rainfall also looks to become nearer average too.
