Regional forecast for Highlands & Eilean Siar

Wintry showers dying out. A widespread frost tonight.

This Evening and Tonight:

Wednesday:

Sunny spells at first in the east, otherwise a cloudy day. Patchy light rain or sleet, occasionally snow towards Aviemore, then more persistent rain in the northwest during the afternoon. Maximum Temperature 10 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

A rather cloudy start expected on Thursday, patchy light rain possible. However, mostly dry and becoming brighter with a few sunny breaks. Mainly dry and bright on Friday and Saturday.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Remaining chilly through Wednesday with sunny spells and showers.

Today:

Sunshine and showers for most, with showers most frequent in the east, where they could be wintry and thundery in nature. Fewer showers in the west but with some rain across the far north. Remaining chilly, although with winds easing.

Tonight:

Daytime showers will tend to die out overnight with a frost developing in the south. Less cold elsewhere with cloud and patchy rain in the north gradually moving southeastwards.

Thursday:

Sunny start in the far south before cloud and patchy rain moves across all areas, turning more showery later. Becoming brighter and mostly dry across some northern areas. Generally milder.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Largely dry at first with some sunshine, feeling less cold. Through the weekend, winds will strengthen for all, with an increasing threat of rain or showers, especially towards the south.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Sunday 30 Apr 2017 to Tuesday 9 May 2017:

The tail end of the Bank Holiday weekend looks more unsettled, with rain, already across some west and south-western parts of the UK, extending across the rest of the country. Rain could be heavy across south-western areas, and it will be increasingly windy for many. However, some north-eastern areas could stay dry throughout the long weekend, and temperatures will generally be near or slightly below normal. Tuesday will remain on the wet and windy side, but as next week progresses, drier, more settled and increasingly sunny weather should become established. South-east England is expected to see this change first. Temperatures are likely to respond too with some places becoming very warm, but the main uncertainty is just how quickly this change occurs.

UK Outlook for Wednesday 10 May 2017 to Wednesday 24 May 2017:

High pressure appears to be in charge during the middle part of May, with temperatures likely to be above average, possible very warm at times. It also looks drier than average, especially across the north-west of the UK, with central and southern Britain perhaps seeing some wetter weather occasionally. Towards the end of May, indications on a particular weather type are less certain, with temperatures likely to be closer to normal; some pleasantly warm days but some chilly nights. Rainfall also looks to become nearer average too.
