Regional forecast for Wales

Risk of thundery showers continues, though becoming drier later.

Today:

A rather cloudy day, though dry for many with some brightness, especially in the west where there'll be some warm sunny spells. The risk of heavy, thundery showers continues, although easing later. Maximum Temperature 22C.

Tonight:

Showers will gradually clear away during the evening to leave a largely dry, mild night. Cloud will thicken in places with further mist likely overnight, particularly towards the east. Minimum Temperature 14C.

Saturday:

Mist and low cloud will clear during the morning, with bright spells developing. Many places will stay dry, however further showers are possible, mainly in the south where potentially heavy. Maximum Temperature 20C.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mainly fine throughout with plenty of dry and bright weather. It will feel fresher than of late, despite further spells of sunshine and light winds. Cooler by night.

UK forecast for the next 5 days

Scattered thunderstorms in south. Remaining dull for some northeastern parts.

Today:

Another misty start for many, particularly eastern areas, brightening up away from the northeast coast, with warm sunny spells developing. Scattered heavy, thundery showers will affect southern and central parts, though many places dry throughout. Showery rain northeast Scotland later.

Tonight:

Showers will tend to become more isolated by evening, but some heavy thundery downpours are still possible in the south. Murky conditions in the east will spread westwards overnight again.

Saturday:

Mist and drizzle at first in northeastern places, but brighter, fresher conditions gradually spreading south later. Otherwise largely dry with isolated thundery showers, mainly in the south.

Outlook for Sunday to Tuesday:

Mainly fine with sunny spells, though feeling less warm with chilly nights. Cloudier with rain into the far northwest later Monday, this spreading slowly southeastards across Scotland on Tuesday.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Tuesday 23 Sep 2014 to Thursday 2 Oct 2014:

At first it should be dry for most with some good sunny spells. Northwestern areas though are likely to be cloudier with some rain or drizzle. It will also be breezy here with the risk of gales in the far northwest. As we go through the week the more unsettled conditions look set to spread across many northern and western parts, with some heavy spells of rain. Southern, and southeastern areas in particularly, are probably going to hold onto the drier and brighter weather with some sunny periods, and perhaps a few showers. Temperatures will be around normal, if not warm in the south and east. The setup looks to remain similar heading into the following week; unsettled in the north and west, some rain in the south and east.

UK Outlook for Friday 3 Oct 2014 to Friday 17 Oct 2014:

The UK is likely to see changeable conditions through this period, with a mixture of fine and settled weather, interspersed with occasional unsettled spells. The drier and brighter conditions are expected to be most prolonged across the south and east. Here, daytime temperatures are likely to be around, and often above, average with some warm sunshine. However it could turn quite chilly during the nights, with a risk of fog patches in places. Northern and western parts are likely to see more in the way of outbreaks of rain. Daytime temperatures here are set to be below or close to average.
