UK forecast for the next 5 days

Mild with rain in clearing south, then colder with showers.

This Evening and Tonight:

Cloudy across the south with rain continuing, mainly affecting western parts. This clearing southeastwards, allowing clearer, colder conditions in the north to spread to all but the far southeast of England by morning. Blustery showers giving snow on northern hills.

Friday:

Rain soon clearing the far southeast. Then dry, bright and breezy for much of England and Wales, but with blustery wintry showers in the north, locally heavy and thundery.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

Bright, breezy and cold on Saturday, wintry showers in the north easing. Turning cloudier but milder for Sunday and Monday, though still windy, with outbreaks of rain or drizzle.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Tuesday 23 Dec 2014 to Thursday 1 Jan 2015:

Rain over central and southern parts Tuesday should move slowing southeastwards, clearing the southeast early on Christmas Eve. Colder showery conditions to the north, with snow on high ground here, following over the entire UK. The colder conditions then persist for most through Christmas Day and the following weekend with snow even to low levels at times in the north. There is a low probability of some more persistent rain crossing southern parts during the holiday weekend with a risk of snow on the leading edge. Otherwise in the following week there looks to be a gradual return to spells of wet and milder weather interspersed with colder, showery conditions. Generally windy for many throughout the period with risk of gales, these mainly in the northwest.

UK Outlook for Friday 2 Jan 2015 to Friday 16 Jan 2015:

The most likely scenario for the coming New Year is for a continuation of changeable, and at times windy weather coming from the Atlantic with the wettest weather probably across western parts of the UK, and eastern parts most likely to see the best of any dry weather. In between the wetter periods there should be drier, brighter, and colder spells. Temperatures are most likely to be around or slightly below average for the time of year with overnight frosts and some snow over the high ground expected. There is a chance of some overnight and morning fog in places too. However, there is a low likelihood that the drier spells will become more prolonged between weather systems.
