Dry, cold and clear for much of the night with a widespread frost forming. Winds mainly light westerly. A widespread frost will form with some mist patches forming in the Vale of York. Minimum Temperature -2°C.

Thursday:

A frosty, bright start. Cloud will increase during the morning with isolated showers spreading southwards during afternoon, these wintry over higher ground. Chilly with light winds. Then sharp frost overnight. Maximum Temperature 6°C.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Some wintry flurries over hills through the period, otherwise dry, occasionally bright, but cold. Light winds on Friday, then Saturday and Sunday increasingly cold in strengthening easterly, then northerly winds.

Showers continuing in parts of Wales and southwest England, whilst a more organised band of rain and hill snow moves south across Scotland. Otherwise, a cold, mainly clear, night with a widespread frost developing. Some icy stretches in northern Scotland.

Thursday:

Fog patches in some southern and western parts, may be slow to clear. Elsewhere dry with sunny spells, although some showers continuing in the southwest and parts of northern England.

Outlook for Friday to Sunday:

Mostly dry with sunny spells and some wintry showers. Rain, sleet and perhaps some snow affecting the south on Saturday and Sunday. Feeling cold, with overnight frosts, particularly further north.

UK Outlook for Monday 15 Feb 2016 to Wednesday 24 Feb 2016:

Rather cold conditions are likely at first, with showery conditions across the east and far southwest, and fine conditions elsewhere. Showers are likely to be a mix of sleet, snow and hail, and there will be a widespread overnight frost. It should then turn drier from the west by Tuesday, but remaining cold with widespread, locally severe, overnight frosts. Later next week, unsettled, changeable conditions should gradually return from the west, with a band of cloud and rain making erratic progress eastwards, which may also give some transient snow in places. Thereafter, it should remain unsettled with northwestern areas seeing the wettest, windiest weather, and southeastern areas likely to see more in the way of drier spells. Temperatures returning to near normal, although with overnight frosts still possible.

UK Outlook for Thursday 25 Feb 2016 to Thursday 10 Mar 2016:

Indications are that the end of February will be dominated by unsettled, changeable weather coming in from the Atlantic. This will bring showers or longer spells of rain to most parts, wettest in northwestern areas, while southeastern parts may benefit from some longer dry spells. Snow is likely at times, mainly over northern hills. Temperatures should generally be near normal for the time of year, with the chance of occasional frosty nights where skies become clear. Generally windy with gales or even severe gales at times, mainly in northern and western parts. Into early March there is a possibility of more settled weather becoming established, mainly across southern areas, bringing drier and less windy conditions here, however, wet and windy weather will more likely persist in the north and west.
