Wintry showers becoming isolated and mainly confined to Banff and Buchan to leave many places with a dry, cold and frosty night. Frost locally severe around Braemar. Strong northwesterly winds easing inland, though staying breezy around Fraserburgh Minimum Temperature -6C.

Monday:

A few wintry showers towards Buchan at first otherwise a bright day with sunny spells and lighter winds. Very cold, frost early and late. A spell of persistent snow overnight. Maximum Temperature 2C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Cold and windy on Tuesday with sleet and snow showers. Wintry showers on Wednesday dying out later. Overnight frost, severe over snow cover inland. Cloudy and mainly dry on Thursday.

Wintry showers continuing across Northern Ireland, northern Scotland and some eastern coastal areas. Otherwise, mostly dry with clear spells and winds easing across the UK. A very cold night with a widespread, locally severe frost and icy patches.

Monday:

A cold start, then mainly dry with sunny spells and further wintry showers affecting western and eastern coasts. A band of rain, sleet and snow moves into northern Scotland later.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

Windy with a band of sleet and snow moving southwards Tuesday and weakening. Wintry showers in the east. Mostly dry with wintry showers north and east from Wednesday. Overnight frosts.

Outlook for the UK over the next 6-30 days

UK Outlook for Friday 6 Feb 2015 to Sunday 15 Feb 2015:

The cold weather will continue through Friday and Saturday, particularly in the south. There is likely to be some snow showers in the southeast at first, with widespread overnight frosts. There is a risk of more widespread rain and snow over north-western parts from Saturday as conditions are likely to become more influenced by the Atlantic. Temperatures gradually becoming less cold here, although the transition period will have the potential for further snow in places. Elsewhere, conditions will be mainly dry with some sunshine. Through the second week of February, temperatures will remain near or just below average and it will be often dry, particularly in the south. However, it will be generally more unsettled in the northwest and less cold, under the influence of Atlantic air.

UK Outlook for Monday 16 Feb 2015 to Monday 2 Mar 2015:

Whilst changeable Atlantic conditions will likely prevail at the start of the period, mainly in the north, it currently looks most probable that a period of more settled weather will dominate in the south. This leaves most parts of the UK with slightly drier, and colder conditions than average with overnight frosts and patchy fog likely at times.
