Cloudy and breezy for most overnight with further outbreaks of mostly light rain and drizzle. Perhaps becoming clearer for many later, bringing a frost by dawn. Some freezing fog patches are likely to form in the south-east, where locally dense. Minimum Temperature -1 °C.

Wednesday:

Any early fog patches should lift and clear to give a dry and bright day, with variable cloud and bright or sunny spells. A breezier day and feeling cold. Maximum Temperature 9 °C.

Outlook for Thursday to Saturday:

Cold and windy on Thursday and Friday, with sunny spells by day and frosts overnight. Winds easing into Saturday but turning cloudier with some light rain in places.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
