Today:

A cloudier day with perhaps some light patchy rain, and snow flurries over higher ground although dry for much of the time. Some brighter spells too though, the best of these in the Trossachs. A cold day with light winds. Maximum Temperature 4 °C.

Tonight:

Cloudy at first then clear periods developing. It will be a colder night with a widespread frost and also a few fog patches forming later tonight. Minimum Temperature -3 °C.

Monday:

Dry with a frosty start and fog patches slow to clear. Otherwise sunny spells during the morning becoming cloudy in the afternoon. A cold day with light southerly winds. Maximum Temperature 5 °C.

Outlook for Tuesday to Thursday:

A mostly cloudy few days with light rain at times, mostly in the west. It will be a windy few days and feeling cold with fresh to strong southerly winds.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
