A mixture of sunny intervals and showers, some of them heavy. The showers mostly across western areas of Perthshire and Stirlingshire. Feeling quite warm in the sunshine. Maximum Temperature 19 °C.

Tonight:

A bright evening with scattered showers. Turning cloudy overnight with a few showers continuing, these most frequent in the west across Stirlingshire and Crianlarich area. Minimum Temperature 10 °C.

Friday:

A mixture of bright or sunny intervals and scattered showers. Longest sunny spells will be along the Angus and east Fife coasts. Maximum Temperature 19 °C.

Outlook for Saturday to Monday:

A mixture of sunny spells and showers throughout. Showers mainly in the afternoon with the chance of thunder. Feeling warm in the sunshine.

What are tides?

Tides refer to the rise and fall of a body of water, most commonly seen in the oceans; caused by the interaction between the moon, sun and Earth.

As the positions of Earth, sun and moon change in relation to each other, the gravitational pull and centrifugal forces acting upon the oceans vary and it is these differences that cause fluctuation in the height of the sea which we see at the tides going out and in.

In the UK we mostly experience a semi-diurnal tide which means we experience two high tides and two low tides each day. These occur approximately every 12 hours and 25 minutes.
