Current activities

Ian is the code manager of the Site-Specific Processing System (SSPS), which derives site-specific forecasts for a wide range of products and services, from gridded data output by NWP models. He is responsible for the scientific development of the post-processing components within the SSPS and for the maintenance and development of the operational system that delivers SSPS forecasts to product generation software.

Career background

Ian was a member of the Post-Processing group since its formation in 2007.  He has been working on site-specific forecasting techniques since joining the Met Office in August 1998.

Ian graduated with a BSc in Meteorology from the University of Reading.
