Met Office Weather Apps

Want to know whether today will be wet, dry, really windy, or what the chance of snow is tomorrow? The latest weather forecasts from the Met Office are available in the palm of your hand with our weather apps.

The latest weather, wherever, with our weather app

3 Android screen shots

With 11 million downloads across all platforms our weather app gives easy access to the most up to date and accurate, local weather forecasts and warnings, 24 hours a day, wherever you are in the UK.

The apps give you hourly forecasts for today and tomorrow with three-hourly forecasts for days three to five. In addition to the likelihood of rain or snow, sunshine, cloud coverage and temperature, it gives the 'feels-like' temperature - ideal if it's 10 °C but will actually feel like 3 °C when you account for the wind chill factor!

Accurate, easy to read and simple to use, the app also updates automatically so it's always displaying the latest forecast information.

Stay safe

The apps also give you access to Met Office severe weather warnings for your neighbourhood, enabling you to see the area affected and view details of the warning including whether it is a yellow, amber or red warning and advice on the steps you should take.

A mix of text and icons advise you of the percentage chance of rain, whether it's light drizzle, heavy rain or thundery showers; if it's partly cloudy, or if there'll be sunny intervals, sleet, fog, hail, or heavy snow; and even lets you know the sunrise and sunset times and if it will be a clear sky at night. For summer the UV forecast map is really useful and the index even advises on what sort of sun protection you need.

Around 7,000 UK locations and 6,000 international locations

There are around 7,000 UK locations available, so you can check out the local weather near you, get a forecast for where you are using geolocation, and save multiple favourite locations - perhaps family and friends or weekend haunts. Simply swipe the screen to change or add a location. You can even choose places of interest, such as the National Trust, youth hostels, national parks, beaches, sports and outdoor recreation, including football grounds, racecourses, golf clubs, show grounds and theme parks.

International locations are shown in local time, meaning the times zones automatically adjust to reflect the time zone of each location. This includes any changes in daylight saving.

Up to 30-day written forecasts

Get a five day view of the weather or for more detail, tap a day and view the hourly forecast for the first two days with three-hourly location forecasts for days three to five. You can use the map view to pan and zoom for more detailed regional information. There's also the option for 6 to 30-day written forecasts which give a more general overview of what the weather will be doing over a longer timescale.
