Met Office view

A ridge of high pressure to the south of the UK continues to decline. Low pressure to the northwest of Scotland dominates the UK weather with the associated series of weakening fronts bringing bands of showery rain across the UK. The isobars (thin black lines) indicate a moderate to fresh westerly breeze as wind circulates in an anti-clockwise direction around a low pressure.
