During the next couple of days an area of low pressure will develop and then remain slow-moving near Scotland.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney

24 hour forecast: Easterly or southeasterly 3 or 4, occasionally 5 near Orkney and Caithness but becoming variable 2 at times in Moray Firth. Slight, occasionally moderate near Orkney and Caithness. Fog patches. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor.

Outlook:  East or southeast becoming variable, 3 or 4, occasionally 5 at first, decreasing 2 at times later. Slight, occasionally moderate at first in north. Rain or thundery showers, fog patches until later. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor.

Rattray Head to Berwick upon Tweed

24 hour forecast: Variable 3 or less, increasing 4 at times. Smooth or slight. Fog patches then banks. Moderate to very poor, occasionally good.

Outlook:  Variable 3 or 4, occasionally 2 at first, but becoming southwesterly 5 at times later in south. Smooth or slight. Rain or thundery showers, mainly later, fog patches until later. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor until later.

Berwick upon Tweed to Whitby

24 hour forecast: North or northeast 2 or 3, occasionally 4 at first. Smooth or slight. Fog patches. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor.

Outlook:  Northeast becoming variable 2 or 3, occasionally westerly 4 later. Smooth or slight. Thundery showers, mainly later, fog patches until later. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor until later.

Whitby to Gibraltar Point

24 hour forecast: North 3 or 4, occasionally 5 at first. Slight, occasionally moderate at first. Fog patches. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor.

Outlook:  North 3 or 4 becoming variable 3 or less, then northwest 4 or 5 later. Smooth or slight. Fog patches until later, showers later. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor until later.

Gibraltar Point to North Foreland

24 hour forecast: Northerly or northeasterly 3 or 4, increasing 5 at times. Slight, occasionally moderate near Norfolk. Thundery showers for a time in south, fog patches developing. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor.

Outlook:  Northerly or northeasterly 3 or 4 becoming variable 3 or less, then northwesterly 4 or 5 later. Slight, occasionally moderate later near Norfolk. Fog patches at first, showers, mainly later. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor at first.

North Foreland to Selsey Bill

Selsey Bill to Lyme Regis

The Minch

Channel Islands
