A ridge of high pressure will extend across the United Kingdom from the southwest today. This will decline during Thursday as low pressure moves into the north.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong winds are forecast

24 hour forecast: Westerly 5 or 6, occasionally 7 for a time in north, veering northwesterly 4 or 5 later. Slight occasionally moderate in southeast, rough or very rough becoming moderate in north. Occasional rain, then showers. Good, occasionally moderate.

Outlook:  Northwesterly 4 or 5, becoming variable 3 or 4, becoming northerly or northeasterly 4 or 5 later. Slight in southeast, moderate in north. Rain or showers. Good, occasionally moderate.

Rattray Head to Berwick upon Tweed - Strong winds are forecast

24 hour forecast: West or southwest 4 or 5, occasionally 6 until later. Slight occasionally moderate for a time. Showers. Good.

Outlook:  West or northwest backing south for a time, 4 or 5. Smooth or slight. Thundery showers. Good, occasionally moderate.

Berwick upon Tweed to Whitby - Strong winds are forecast

24 hour forecast: Westerly 4 or 5, increasing 6 for a time in north. Slight occasionally moderate at first. Showers. Good.

Outlook:  Westerly backing southerly for a time, 4 or 5. Smooth or slight. Thundery showers. Good, occasionally moderate.

Whitby to Gibraltar Point
