General Situation at 1200 UTC on Mon 01 Sep 2014

Weakening weather fronts will move eastwards across all areas during Monday. Thereafter, pressure will build with high pressure becoming centred over Scandinavia during Tuesday.

Cape Wrath to Rattray Head including Orkney - Strong winds are forecast

24 hour forecast: Westerly or southwesterly 4 or 5, occasionally 6 at first near Cape Wrath, becoming variable 3 at times in south. In north, moderate or rough, occasionally very rough, in south, slight or moderate. Fair. Good.

Outlook:  Southwest 4 or 5 at first near Sutherland, otherwise variable 3 or 4. Rough becoming moderate in north, slight in south. Fair. Good, occasionally poor in east.

Rattray Head to Berwick upon Tweed

24 hour forecast: Variable 3 or 4. Smooth or slight. Fair. Moderate or good.

Outlook:  Variable mainly southerly 3 or 4, occasionally 5 near Rattray Head. Slight, occasionally moderate near Rattray Head. Fair. Good, occasionally poor.

Berwick upon Tweed to Whitby

24 hour forecast: Variable 3 or less, occasionally 4 at first. Smooth or slight. Fair. Moderate or good, occasionally poor later.

Outlook:  Variable 3 or less becoming southeast 3 or 4. Smooth or slight. Fair. Moderate or good, occasionally poor.

Whitby to Gibraltar Point

24 hour forecast: Variable 2 or 3 becoming north 3 or 4. Slight. Occasional rain or drizzle then fair. Moderate or good, occasionally poor.

Outlook:  North veering east or southeast, 3 or 4. Smooth or slight. Mainly fair. Good, occasionally poor.

Gibraltar Point to North Foreland

24 hour forecast: Southwesterly veering northerly 3 or 4. Slight. Rain or drizzle at times. Moderate or good.

Outlook:  Northerly veering easterly 3 or 4, occasionally 5 later in south. Slight. Mainly fair. Good, occasionally moderate.

North Foreland to Selsey Bill

24 hour forecast: Westerly or southwesterly veering northerly or northeasterly, 3 or 4, occasionally 5 in east. Slight, occasionally moderate in east. Rain or drizzle at times. Moderate or good, occasionally poor.

Outlook:  Northeasterly 3 or 4, occasionally 5 near headlands, but variable 3 or less for a time at first in west. Slight, occasionally moderate near headlands. Fair. Good, occasionally moderate.

Selsey Bill to Lyme Regis

24 hour forecast: West or southwest 3 or 4, occasionally 5 at first, then veering east or northeast. Slight, occasionally moderate at first. Rain or drizzle at times then fair. Moderate or good, occasionally poor at first.

Outlook:  East or northeast 3 or 4, becoming variable 3 or less for a time. Slight. Fair. Good, occasionally moderate.

Lyme Regis to Lands End including the Isles of Scilly

24 hour forecast: Southwest veering northeast 3 or 4, occasionally 5 near headlands. Moderate west of Lizard Point, and becoming rough for a time near the Isles of Scilly, otherwise mainly slight. Rain or drizzle at times then fair, fog patches at first in west. Moderate or good, occasionally very poor at first in west.

Outlook:  East or northeast 3 or 4, occasionally 5 near headlands. Moderate west of Lizard Point, otherwise slight occasionally moderate. Fair. Good.

Lands End to St Davids Head including the Bristol Channel

24 hour forecast: West or northwest veering east or northeast, 3 or 4. Moderate or rough near Land's End, otherwise slight or moderate. Occasional rain at first in south, otherwise fair. Good, occasionally poor at first in south.

Outlook:  East or northeast 3 or 4, occasionally variable 2 at first. Slight or moderate. Fair. Good.

St Davids Head to Great Orme Head including St Georges Channel

24 hour forecast: North or northwest veering northeast, 3 or 4, becoming variable 3 or less later. Slight, occasionally moderate in south. Fair. Good.

Outlook:  Variable mainly northeast 3 or less, occasionally 4 later. Slight. Fair. Good.

Great Orme Head to the Mull of Galloway

24 hour forecast: Northwest 3 or 4 veering east or northeast 2 or 3. Slight, becoming smooth or slight. Fair. Good.

Outlook:  Variable 3 or less, increasing 4 at times. Smooth or slight. Fair. Good.

Isle of Man

Lough Foyle to Carlingford Lough

24 hour forecast: Variable 3 or less, occasionally 4 at first. Moderate or rough in north, otherwise slight. Fair. Good.

Outlook:  Variable 3 or less, becoming southeasterly 4 at times. Moderate becoming slight in north, otherwise smooth or slight. Fair. Good.

Mull of Galloway to Mull of Kintyre including the Firth of Clyde and North Channel

24 hour forecast: West or northwest 3 or 4 becoming variable 3 or less. Moderate near the Mull of Kintyre, otherwise slight. Fair. Good.

Outlook:  Variable 3 or less, becoming southeasterly 4 at times. Moderate at first near the Mull of Kintyre, otherwise slight. Fair. Good.

Mull of Kintyre to Ardnamurchan Point

24 hour forecast: West backing south 3 or 4. Moderate or rough, occasionally very rough near Islay and Tiree. Fair. Good.

Outlook:  South or southeast 3 or 4. Moderate or rough becoming slight or moderate. Fair. Good.

The Minch - Strong winds are forecast

24 hour forecast: Southwesterly 4 or 5, occasionally 6 in north. Slight or moderate, occasionally rough in south and in far north. Mainly fair. Good, occasionally moderate.

Ardnamurchan Point to Cape Wrath - Strong winds are forecast

24 hour forecast: Southwesterly 4 or 5, occasionally 6 in north. Rough or very rough. Mainly fair. Good, occasionally moderate.

Outlook:  Southerly or southwesterly 4 or 5, occasionally 6 at first in north. Moderate or rough, becoming slight or moderate near Sutherland. Mainly fair. Good, occasionally moderate.

Channel Islands

24 hour forecast: Westerly 2 or 3, occasionally 4 in the north, veering northerly late evening, then northeasterly by morning. Slight. Occasional light rain or drizzle this evening and overnight, with a risk of fog patches, clearing by morning. Good, becoming moderate to very poor for a time.

Outlook:  North or northeast 3 or 4, veering east in the evening. Slight with swell. Fair. Good.
