As the Beijing Paralympic Games draw to a close, and hard on the heels of the Olympic Games, Met Office forecasters have been in the Chinese capital to see how weather affects 'the biggest show on Earth' and to learn more about delivering essential forecasts.
Two Met Office forecasters have looked at the way in which specific forecasts have been communicated to the various venues at the Games.
The visit was part of an ongoing relationship and exchange between the two national weather services which goes back many years.
Chief Forecaster Andy Page has been in China and said: "The visit proved invaluable and we have seen from the Chinese Meteorological Administration how critical the weather is for events on the scale of the Olympics. This experience will help us as we prepare for the London Games in 2012".
