21 May 2013 - Met Office experts will be at All Energy 2013 in Aberdeen on the 22 - 23 May showcasing the end-to-end solutions it provides for onshore and offshore renewable energy projects.
Weather and climate have a huge impact on the success of both offshore and onshore renewable energy projects. The Met Office's dual operation centres at our headquarters in Exeter and marine centre of excellence in Aberdeen guarantee an accurate and reliable supply of weather and metocean information.
In recent years the Met Office has worked with the renewable energy sector to develop and apply the latest science into the products and services we supply for the sector. As the industry grows, we work in partnership to provide tailored solutions to the challenges ahead and help reduce risks with our expert advice during planning, construction and operations.
John Mitchell, Met Office metocean scientist, said: "The Met Office is committed to working with the renewables industry to help identify and mitigate the risks associated with the impacts of weather. Our services are there for the complete life cycle of wind farm operation both offshore and onshore, from site screening through construction and operation to repowering or decommissioning."
