9 July 2013 - Want to know whether today will be wet or dry, or if it will be really hot tomorrow? The latest weather forecasts from the Met Office are now available with our weather app for the Kindle Tablet.
Joining our existing family of mobile apps on iPhone, Android and Windows Phone 8, the new Kindle Tablet edition gives quick and easy access to weather information.
Key features of the Kindle Tablet edition include:
Terry Makewell, Head of Digital & Global Media at the Met Office, said: ""I am very excited that our weather app has launched on the Amazon Kindle platform. We have been working closely with Amazon over the last few months to ensure that Kindle users can get up-to-date weather alerts and forecast information wherever and whenever they want. This is just one more way in which we are continuing to make our trusted content available to millions of users across a range of digital platforms."
The Met Office weather app has won Best App of 2012 from the Sparkies 2013 awards and is hugely successful on iPhone and Android, having had over 6.5m downloads.
There are 5,000 locations to choose from and you can save up to ten of your favourite places including beaches, football grounds, national parks and show grounds to find out what the weather is doing and how it might affect your plans.
The app can help you to stay safe by giving you access to weather warnings, enabling you to see affected areas and take appropriate action if necessary. For summer there are UV forecasts with advice on what sort of sun protection you need.
