20 May 2010
Weather conditions over the next few days are expected to provide the first real taste of summer for many areas, with the highest temperatures of the year predicted.
Very warm and humid air will raise temperatures through the rest of the week and weekend, with many parts of the UK seeing temperatures reaching the low to mid 20s, despite some cloud at times. Some parts of England could see highs of 28 °C over the weekend - the highest temperatures since September last year.
Chief Forecaster, Steve Willington, said: "Many regions will see the high temperatures, which could trigger an isolated thunderstorm inland. Sea breezes will keep coasts much cooler with the chance of mist and low cloud."
