Mostly dry away from the northwest.
Most areas will be dry with variable amounts of cloud. Clear spells in the south will allow a patchy frost and some freezing fog patches to form. Cloud and patchy rain will move southeastwards across Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Central parts rather cloudy with some light rain and drizzle. Some bright spells in the south once fog slowly clears. Sunny spells for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
Rain, heavy in northwest Scotland, moving southeastwards and weakening through Sunday. Largely dry on Monday before further rain moves southeast on Tuesday. Very windy at times in northern Scotland.
Updated:
On Wednesday, unsettled and windy conditions in the north with showers or longer spells of rain, heaviest and most persistent in the west. Conditions likely drier and less windy further south. Towards the end of the week, these conditions likely to continue with perhaps the risk for winter showers in the northeast. Thereafter, high pressure centred to the south, with low pressure passing to the north. This will result in fronts bringing rain and cloud mainly to the north and northwest, with southern areas also likely to see some lighter rain at times, but greater potential for drier weather overall, lighter winds and overnight fog patches. Temperatures generally around to a little above average, but a continuing risk of some overnight frost, especially in the south.
Updated:
The general theme for this period is that the high pressure will remain centred to the south with further areas of low pressure running to the north, but with some uncertainty in this north/south boundary. For a time, the influence of the high may reduce, allowing the frontal systems from the north to push further south at times. This frontal activity and associated changeable weather is likely to bring rainfall, sometimes heavy to move areas of the UK. Otherwise, southern areas probably seeing more in the way of drier weather, lighter winds, and overnight fog. Temperatures are likely to be at or slightly above average, although brief colder spells remain possible.
