Current activities
Andrew is a member of the ocean assessment and transitions team.
The team is responsible for:
- Assessing the accuracy of the Met Office's ocean forecasts.
- Develop assessment methods and metrics for ocean forecasts.
- Performing trials of model changes and assessing impact on product accuracy.
- Preparing changes to the operational ocean forecast systems.
Andrew is currently a member of the MyOcean service desk. MyOcean is a three-year EU project to develop and run a 'one-stop-shop' for ocean forecasting and ocean monitoring products.
Career background
Andrew became a member of the ocean assessment and transitions group in 2010. Andrew originally joined the Marine Core Service Group in 2009 and has since transferred to the ocean assessment and transitions group.
Before joining the Met Office, Andrew completed an MSc in Meteorology at University College Dublin (UCD), as well as a degree in Theoretical Physics from Trinity College Dublin.
