Current activities
Fiona's work aims to improve NWP performance through enhancing the use of satellite sounding observations in the Met Office UM.
She is currently undertaking a PhD with the University of Leicester aimed at improving the use of data from the IASI instrument, a high-resolution infrared sounding instrument flying onboard the MetOp satellite.
Fiona is a member of the international IASI Sounding Science Working Group through which she has been involved in various coordination activities and collaborative projects aimed at improving our use and understanding of IASI data.
Career background
Fiona has worked in Satellite Applications since 2001, and although her work has recently concentrated on infrared sounders, she has also worked on the assimilation of microwave radiance data.
