Current activities

Since joining the Met Office, Helen has assisted in delivering research and services that help the railway industry better manage the impacts of weather for safe and resilient operations. She has been involved in leaf fall and low adhesion services as well as working on projects to address the challenge of earthwork failures on the rail network.

Career background

Helen joined the Met Office as a Rail Applications Trainee Scientific Consultant in October 2022.   Prior to that, Helen completed her PhD in theoretical physical chemistry as well as an MSci in Chemistry at the University of Birmingham. She specialised in atomistic molecular dynamics simulations and global optimisation techniques.
