Goal 13 Impact Platform

The Goal 13 Impact Platform is a collaborative project lead by Deloitte and including partners: The Confederation of British Industry, Chapter Zero, The Prince’s Accounting for Sustainability Project, Dell Technologies and the Met Office.

The project aims to support business progress in reducing C02 emissions and enhancing resilience to climate change by publishing company insights, inspiring further climate commitments and action, and facilitating collaboration.

Over 420 companies have contributed to the platform to date including strategy, sustainability, finance, and procurement leaders, executives, and board directors. Interviews have captured company-specific insights which have all fed into the Goal 13 Impacts Platform Report.

The report addresses drivers for change, corporate targets and commitments, governance structures, climate initiatives, barriers to progress, and learnings to paint a holistic picture of the state of business climate change programmes.

In the report, Met Office Chief Executive Professor Penny Endersby highlights that companies are becoming increasingly aware of the risks of climate change and the opportunities too, but many fail to prioritise resilience.

Tom Butcher, Met Office Head of Research and Consultancy Propositions, explores this in more detail in the study included in the report ‘Climate adaptation and resilience: the poor cousin to the race to net zero?’

You can download the Goal 13 Impact Platform Report on the Deloitte website.

“Reducing CO2 emissions as well as adapting to future climate is of paramount importance and the Met Office is pleased to support the Goal 13 impact platform.

If we are to succeed in the challenge to get to net zero it is imperative that businesses share best practice and pool their net zero ideas. Businesses also need to recognise that climate change is happening now and make sure that they take steps to remain resilient.”

Met Office Chief Executive, Penelope Endersby
