Met Office daily weather: Spells of unsettled weather across the UK
The midweek period brings a spell of unsettled weather across the UK
Wednesday will be mostly rather cloudy, with outbreaks of rain affecting much of the country. However, parts of the east and southeast will remain largely dry for much of the day. A band of heavy rain will move northwards across western areas, bringing a wet spell before conditions gradually improve in the southwest during the afternoon. Here, it will become drier as the day progresses.
Winds will be breezy at times, particularly in the west, but it will feel mild away from the far north. Temperatures are expected to be notably mild or even locally very mild across much of the UK, especially within the warm sector. Highs of 16°C to 17°C are likely in the
Although its been unsettled, you may have noticed that it has been feeling very mild to start November

That's because the low pressure system out to the west is drawing up warmer air from the south, meaning temperatures are about 4-6 degrees above the seasonal average 🌡️ pic.twitter.com/EONUCfNOA5
As we move into Wednesday night, further rain is expected in northern and western areas. Elsewhere, it will be mainly dry but often cloudy, with very mild conditions persisting. Winds will ease inland overnight, providing a calmer end to the day. Temperatures will remain similar to those experienced on Tuesday night, staying well above the seasonal average for many.
Outlook for Thursday
Thursday will continue the unsettled theme, with cloudy skies and outbreaks of rain in western and northern areas for much of the day. The southeast will remain rather cloudy, with the odd showery outbreak of light rain and some areas of low cloud, particularly on south-facing coasts and hills. A moderate breeze will persist throughout.
It will remain very mild, though temperatures will begin to fall closer to average in the west and north as the day progresses.
Met Office presenter and meteorologist, Aidan McGivern, said: “As we begin Wednesday, we’ll have a broad swathe of gloomy and wet weather across many parts of western and northern UK. But the far north of Scotland as well as parts of East Anglia in the southeast will be seeing clear spells overnight and mostly dry as we start the day. Mild for many, but where we've got those clear skies and the light winds in the north of Scotland, it will be a much fresher start to the day.
“Now, these weather fronts are going to continue to march northwards during Wednesday. Low pressure sitting to the southwest maintains a very mild southerly to south-westly air flow, although not quite as windy on Wednesday as Tuesday. And as we see these rainbands drifting north through Northern England, Northern Ireland, and then more especially across much of central and northern Scotland later in the day, we're going to see drier weather develop across many parts of England and Wales.
“But it will stay cloudy and there will still be some light showery rain across western parts of the country. East Angley and the southeast once again fairing well for drier and brighter weather with remarkably mild temperatures for the time of year. 16°C or 17°C in the south, 13°C or 14°C across much of Scotland and Northern Ireland.
