Tuesday brings a mostly cloudy and breezy day across the UK
Tuesday brings a mostly cloudy and breezy day across the UK, with conditions varying notably between regions.
Northern and north‑western parts can expect occasional periods of rain, with the wettest weather focused over north‑west Scotland. In contrast, some sheltered areas may see drier intervals, with a few brighter spells developing where the cloud thins.
Elsewhere across the country, the day will remain largely cloudy but mainly dry. However, light rain or drizzle is possible along windward coasts and hills, particularly where the airflow meets higher ground. As the afternoon progresses, skies are likely to brighten from the south, giving some regions a welcome spell of sunshine. Temperatures will be mild or very mild for the time of year.
During the evening and overnight, further spells of rain will continue to affect western and north‑western parts, turning heavy at times across upland areas. For many other regions, conditions will stay predominantly cloudy. However, clearer skies are likely to develop across central, southern and south‑eastern England later in the night, allowing a few isolated fog patches to form by dawn.
We're feeling a touch of Spring this week as milder air moves in, with temperatures peaking on Wednesday 🌼

Outlook for Wednesday
Wednesday begins with some mist, fog or low cloud across south‑eastern areas. These conditions should clear during the morning to leave sunny spells and a brighter start for many in the southeast. Elsewhere, the day will be mostly cloudy with outbreaks of rain or drizzle, particularly across northern and western parts. These wetter conditions may push a little further south‑eastward as the day progresses.
Across western Scotland, rain may become more persistent and heavy at times, while north‑western areas could see the rain turn more showery later in the day. Winds will be light to moderate for most, though coastal regions may experience occasional fresh or strong gusts. Temperatures will remain mild or very mild overall, and exceptionally mild in the southeast where sunshine develops.
Met Office presenter and meteorologist, Annie Shuttleworth, said: “Temperatures will sit in the high single figures quite widely to start the day on Tuesday, giving a mild but cloudy beginning. More brightness is expected as we move into the day, particularly across southern areas where southerly winds will help lift temperatures. We could see values reaching around 15°C, most likely along the north coasts of Cornwall or Devon. Temperatures may even reach the mid‑teens across parts of northeast Scotland, with many areas more widely seeing highs of 13 or 14°C.
“With some sunshine breaking through, it will feel pleasantly mild across central and southern regions. Across the northwest, however, rain will persist, especially over north‑western Scotland, though it will remain fairly restricted to these areas. For most of us, Tuesday will be a predominantly dry day, and that theme continues into the evening. Much of England and Wales can expect a clear Tuesday evening, while cloud lingers across the northwest with further rain pushing up from the south into Northern Ireland and parts of Scotland.”
