Weather data for business
Access trusted Met Office weather and climate data for businesses to support operations.
Why use the Met Office for weather data?
You can rely on us to provide accurate, quality data because we are recognised weather and climate experts and a world-leading scientific organisation.
We work with you to:
- supply historical data, forecast data, specialist datasets and analyses
- understand how the weather affects your operations and business outcomes
- integrate weather data into your business operations
- improve resilience and profitability
- prepare for climate change
Our weather data services at a glance.
We transform public weather data to address specific business outcomes. We extract and derive data and create bespoke datasets.
The table below is just an overview; we produce many more datasets and analysis reports, including the concise and cost-effective Weather Analytics for Business Insights.

Observational data
We provide access to observational data for professionals. All hourly UK land based observations are classified WMO Essential and are free of license fee. Delivery is by complete bulletin only. Fees range from €500 to €2,000 per year per individual bulletin. We provide both surface and marine observational data:
Surface data
We can provide a number of different bulletins, issued covering 24 hours and all WMO and MMS stations - List of bulletins.
Information on each of our observation stations:
UK SYNOP station list - WMO numbered stations.
UK SYNOP station list - CDL numbered stations.
Global Marine Coded Observations
All of our marine observations are classified WMO essential and are free of licence fee. Bulletins containing all available reports from ships, fixed and drifting buoys are:
- SMV(A,B,C,D,E,F,J)01 EGRR - 00, 06, 12, 18 UTC (global)
- SIV(A,B,C,D,E,F,J)21 EGRR - 03, 09, 15, 21 UTC (global)
- SNVF21 EGRR - 01,02,04,05,07,08,10,11,13,14,16,17,19,20,22,23 UTC (North Atlantic)
Rainfall data
We offer two types of radar products, to cover the UK and Europe:
International composite radar products (UK/Irish)
North west European composite surface rain rate estimate (European)
