Turning wet and windy, with a spell of snow across the north and a risk of ice from freezing rain. Heavy rain following with strong winds with coastal gales. Mild in the west but still cold in the east.
Severe gales are possible for a time in western Scotland and Northern Ireland overnight with further heavy rain. Drier in the south with clear spells and blustery showers.
Windy at first on Monday, but winds gradually ease through the day. Heavy showers will spread across the country with some bright spells at times. Rather mild compared to recently.
Staying less cold into next week, with periods of heavy showers or longer spells of rain. Winds will strengthen at times, though there will also be some occasional brighter interludes.
Updated:
It will likely remain changeable and at times unsettled for the UK as a whole through this period. Further areas of low pressure moving in from the Atlantic will tend to dominate, meaning showers or longer spells of rain for many parts. Wet weather will more likely be most prevalent across western areas, though given the potential for low pressure systems to become slow-moving in the vicinity of the UK, heavy rain is possible anywhere at times. Periods of windy weather are also possible from time to time. Temperatures probably near normal overall, though the possibility for some colder spells in the north, with the potential for associated winter hazards, and occasional milder interludes further south.
Updated:
Low pressure is likely to continue to dominate the UK, at least at first, meaning an ongoing likelihood of further spells of rain and windy conditions from time to time. That said there should also be some brief interludes of drier weather too. Temperatures probably remaining close to average, particularly in the south, but there is the possibility of colder conditions, associated with higher pressure extending from the north or northeast, returning to northern areas around the turn of the month.
