Rain and wet snow clearing. Frequent coastal wintry showers. Cold
An icy start for some, with rain and some hill snow clearing southeastwards through the morning. Dry and brighter thereafter with sunny spells. Frequent wintry showers for areas exposed to the cold northerly wind, heavy snow in places.
Blustery snow showers continue to affect areas exposed to the cold northern wind, with some accumulations, especially over high ground. Dry with clear skies elsewhere with a widespread frost.
Sunny with wintry showers, particularly across some North Sea coasts. Showers slowly easing during the day with lighter winds during the afternoon. Cold for all with a widespread overnight frost.
Rain and cloud spreading in from the west Friday and Saturday. Turning less cold over the weekend with further outbreaks of rain likely on Sunday, some brighter spells too.
Updated:
Unsettled at first with low pressure, to the east, only very slow clearing. This bringing cloud and outbreaks of rain to many areas, accompanied by strong winds and coastal gales. These more unsettled conditions will probably become increasingly confined to the east, whilst showers in the far north are increasingly likely to turn to sleet and snow. A more settled interlude is possible mid-next week, which may be brief or could last a few days, before a trend towards more changeable conditions associated with Atlantic weather systems. Towards the end of the period, an increasing chance of more settled spells. Temperatures overall likely to be a little below average, with further overnight frosts in settled spells.
Updated:
Whilst there is a lot of uncertainty as to the nature of weather affecting the UK into December, it looks likely that it will become more settled for a time with low pressure systems being steered to the south of the UK. There is however the possibility for some periods of rain or wintry precipitation at times. Temperatures are probably near to or a little below normal but there is a chance of winter hazards including snow at times for some.
