Brighter and drier on Thursday. Unsettled once again on Friday
Any wintry showers in northeast Scotland will ease during the early morning. Most areas stay dry and bright before clouds, rain, and strengthening winds reach Northern Ireland and western Scotland later. Milder than Wednesday, but still feeling rather cold.
A milder night with widespread cloud and rain, heavy over western hills. The southeast may stay clearer with patchy frost. Clearer skies and showers reach northwest Scotland later.
Rain returns on Friday and pushed southeastwards through the day. Sunnier skies in the north, but cooler once again with some wintry showers and stronger gusts of winds.
Saturday brings sunny spells and showers, wintry and windy further north. Sunday sees heavy rain then brighter, showery, windy weather. Monday is mostly dry before cloud and patchy rain return.
Updated:
High pressure to the southwest of the UK will likely be the dominant feature for this period. This will lead to a fairly blocked pattern, with weather fronts rounding the high to affect northern parts at times, where wet and windy weather can be expected. Further south, drier and more settled conditions are more likely, as frontal systems weaken as they meet the high pressure. Through the period, high pressure is likely to spread across much of the UK leading to settled conditions developing more widely. Whilst temperatures will be generally near to or a little above average, some colder interludes are possible, especially in the north, where there could be some wintry showers at times.
Updated:
High pressure will likely be dominant at the start of this period. As such, plenty of dry weather seems most likely, but with changes in wind direction leading to some quite marked differences in cloud amounts and temperature from day to day. Moving further into April, there is a chance that high pressure will become less dominant and thus there is a greater chance of more places seeing some rain and possible stronger winds from time to time. Overall, temperatures will likely be near to average.
