UK long range weather forecast
Some rain at first across the far southeast of England on Friday, before high pressure brings settled and cooler weather through the weekend. Winds will be mainly light, but could still be breezy on some hills and coasts. High pressure is also likely to hold on into the working week, with fair weather with variable cloud amounts looking likely to prevail. Any low pressure systems running across the North Atlantic will likely be blocked and deflected towards Iceland, but some frontal incursions may make it through to bring some rain at times to parts of northern Britain. Temperatures look to be around normal for the time of year, with foggy or frosty mornings expected in the usual prone areas.
Updated:
High pressure brings settled weather at first, but there are signs for a gradual shift away from high pressure and towards a more changeable pattern, with areas of low pressure moving towards the northwestern UK from the North Atlantic. Showers or longer spells of rain are likely, with the wettest and windiest weather typically in the west and northwest, and drier conditions favoured in southern and eastern parts. A trend to more widely unsettled conditions is possible into November. Whilst some occasional colder interludes will be possible at times, temperatures are likely to be near or a little above normal for the period as a whole.
