Katie Chowienczyk is a senior scientific consultant who specialises in developing predictive modelling techniques for the Water, Retail and the Energy sectors.

- Coordinating demand user group meetings. The meetings provide a forum for water companies to exchange knowledge and expertise and shape the direction of research and development in weather derived demand forecasting.
Katie has been a Senior Scientific Consultant for the water sector since November 2018.
Before this Katie was a member of the weather analytics team leading the development of statistical models relating impacts of the weather on the water sector, including demand and leakage. The demand model currently forms a key component of several UK water resource management plans, enabling key risk management and infrastructure decisions to be taken. The model is becoming the industry standard used to forecast demand within water company operation centres.
Katie joined the Met Office in 2014 after graduating with a first-class degree in Physics from Bristol University. Katie is passionate about renewable energy winning an Institute of Physics bursary to fund her work as a summer intern at Wadebridge Renewable Energy Network (WREN). In this role Katie was project leader of WREN’s Carbon Emission Reduction Target (CERT) scheme and helped launch the UK's first energy backed local currency (The Wren) to promote the scheme.
