Phoebe Lambert

Current activities

Phoebe works in the National Capability Weather Intelligence (NCWI) team, primarily as a post-processing foundation scientist on the IMPROVER project (Integrated Model post-PROcessing and VERification), a probabilistic post-processing system for use with ensemble weather prediction models. Her work has focused on assisting with the development of an improved post-processed visibility diagnostic using a new physics visibility scheme at the Met Office called VERA (Visibility Employing Realistic Aerosol). This work will be operationally deployed to the web and app for public weather forecasts.

Career background

Phoebe joined the Met Office in November 2024 after studying BSc Geography at the University of Exeter. Her dissertation focused on the abundance and spatial distribution of microplastic pollution in the River Exe.
