Current activities

Tony is a senior operational meteorologist at Met Office HQ in Exeter. He principally works shifts on the operational Business Group forecast unit, specialising in forecasting impacts to industry, especially from significant or disruptive weather events.

Career background

After obtaining his degree in Environmental Hazards and Disaster Management from Kingston University, Tony started as an observer at RAF Wittering in 2007 and then moved to forecasting in 2008 at Met Office HQ in Exeter. Since then, Tony has delivered forecasts for the aviation, industry and marine sectors. He was also seconded for two years to the Flood Forecasting Centre, working with the Environment Agency. Tony joined Met Office’s Business Group as a meteorologist team leader in April 2017.

Tony became a Fellow of the Royal Meteorological Society in 2012 and a Chartered Meteorologist in 2016.
