After a sometimes changeable Easter weekend, the next couple of days look set to bring about both sunshine and showers with temperatures rising slightly.
A dry and bright start to Tuesday with some early rain in the far north today becoming confined to Shetland. Clouds and windier conditions as well as some outbreaks of rain will be spreading across Northern Ireland in the afternoon and reaching parts of Southwest England and Wales later. Sunny spells and scattered showers otherwise with most areas feeling slightly warmer than Sunday.
Into Tuesday evening those daytime showers will fade and leave clear skies although there will be a band of rain across Northern Ireland, Wales, and Southwest England moving East and Southeast across other parts of England. Further orth, however, will be drier though turning cloudier over parts of Northern and Eastern Scotland, with rain across Shetland at times.
Temperatures will be mostly milder than last night and windier in the South and West however chillier in the North and Northeast will some sheltered spots in Northern and Northeastern Scotland seeing local frost.

Outlook for Wednesday
Moving on to Wednesday and we’ll see some locally heavy rain continuing South and East across parts of England and Wales with an area of further showers to the West of this also continuing to push Southeast. Areas affected by the rain could see 10-15mm fall, rising to 30-40mm for high ground areas in Northern Ireland, Wales, and Southwest England.
These outbreaks of rain will, however, be clearing the far Southeast by mid-morning with some variable cloud and a scattering of showers following.
Temperatures throughout the day will be around average or slightly higher than average in places, although cooler in the Southeast with the focus of higher temperatures further North and West.
Wednesday evening will see those showers mostly dying out with some light rain and drizzle affecting Northeastern Scotland whilst patchy rain could also develop across Western areas of the UK. Low cloud is also likely to spread inland from the North Sea into Eastern and some Central areas. Elsewhere there will be clear spells with temperatures turning chilly and a few patches of fog.
Temperatures will be chilly in the clearer areas across some Northern, Western, and Central parts with some local frost.
Ellie Glaisyer, Met Office presenter and meteorologist, said: “For most of us, Tuesday starts dry and bright with plenty of blue skies on offer, although still with some outbreaks of rain across the very far Northeast.
“While we do catch the sunshine, we’re likely to see some showers bubbling up through the afternoon. It’s all eyes out towards the West as we see a weather front arriving and bringing some perhaps quite heavy rainfall to Western parts of Northern Ireland through Tuesday afternoon.
“Elsewhere, when we do catch the sunshine, highs in the Southeast of 17, 18, perhaps even 19 degrees celsius, so feeling pleasant where you do see that sunshine.”
