Met Office Daily Weather: Remaining changeable this week
Another unsettled couple of days as low pressure exerts its influence over the UK’s weather.
Wednesday looks to be the best day of what is a ‘changeable’ week, with unseasonably strong winds in the far north and northwest of the UK.

Wednesday daytime, expect a mix of sunny spells and showers, with the heaviest and most frequent showers in the north, where they may become organised into bands of rain at times. It will be windy in the north too, with coastal gales possible early on. Elsewhere, conditions will be breezy and temperatures will generally be cooler than Tuesday.
Wednesday night, blustery showers will continue in the far north, though winds here will begin to ease slightly. Further south, thicker cloud will build, bringing outbreaks of rain across parts of England, Wales, and Northern Ireland, where it will also become breezier. It will be milder than the previous night though.
Scotland and Northern Ireland will see clear or sunny spells and showers on Thursday, which could be heavy in the far north. Cloud and outbreaks of rain will move across England and Wales during the morning, clearing to leave sunny spells and showers later, some of which may be heavy locally. Winds will be light to moderate, but locally fresh to strong around some coasts. Temperatures will be near normal, though it may feel rather cold in the north.
Met Office meteorologist Alex Burkill said: “There’s more showery rain to come as we move through Wednesday into Thursday. In fact, we could have some heavier rain affecting some southern parts for a time through Thursday and perhaps on Friday. Generally, the theme through much of the rest of the week is the continuation of something a bit cooler, a bit breezy at times, and a bit rainy at times too. Whether that’s in the form of some short bursts of showers or something a bit longer lasting depends on how far north or south you are.”
