Met Office daily weather: Warm sunshine and scattered showers
The weather forecast for Tuesday, May 13 and Wednesday, May 14, features warm sunshine, scattered showers, and isolated thunderstorms.
As we move into Tuesday, residents across Southern England and South Wales can expect sunny spells interspersed with heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms. The far north of Scotland will experience cloudier skies with a little drizzle, while the rest of the UK remains dry with plenty of sunshine.
Low cloud near North Sea coasts from Northeast England northwards may persist, accompanied by a brisk easterly breeze that will keep coastal areas cooler. Inland areas, however, will enjoy warm to very warm temperatures, with highs ranging from 23-25°C and isolated spots potentially reaching 27°C, particularly in sheltered areas of Western Scotland.
Tuesday night will see showers in the south dying out, leaving most areas dry with clear spells. Low cloud, mist, and patchy fog may develop in Northern and Eastern Scotland and parts of Northeast England.

Wednesday's outlook
On Wednesday, the weather will be predominantly fine and dry, with the exception of a few showers across the far southwest, including Southwest Wales. Most regions will enjoy plenty of warm sunshine and light winds, especially in the west. Eastern areas will see more periods of low cloud, which will be most extensive overnight and may bring pockets of drizzle later in the period. However, sunny spells are expected during the day, although grey and dull conditions may persist along the immediate coast. Temperatures will be cooler in the east, near average to cool, with a fresher northerly to northeasterly wind along the coasts.
The risk of showers will be mainly confined to Devon and Cornwall, and even here, many places could remain dry. Daytime temperatures will be above average, with low to mid-20s Celsius across many central, southern, and western areas. Coastal regions near the North Sea and the far north/northeast of Scotland will experience cooler temperatures due to the onshore flow and cloud cover.
It's going to feel warm and humid for many today, especially in the south 🥵

Alex Deakin, Met Office presenter and meteorologist, said: "We've still got low pressure down to the southwest so we've seen some thunderstorms on Monday and again on Tuesday there is the risk of some heavy showers perhaps not as intense as Monday's downpours but areas that didn't see them on Monday could get them on Tuesday.
“Most places though are going to be dry fine and sunny. There is going to be a low cloud that's going to become more and more of a feature of the weather through this week mostly through Tuesday sticking to the coast of northern and eastern Scotland.
“We are going to see quite a variation in temperatures for many days this week close to the east coast, into the high teens probably. Elsewhere inland we could get into the mid 20s, but where we see those heavy showers again low 20s at best and feeling quite humid where we do catch those downpours.
“Still, a few of them perhaps in the air as we go through Tuesday evening and perhaps even into Wednesday because that low hasn't fully cleared away but for most places the high is becoming established and those breezes are bringing in the cooler air and potentially cloudier conditions down the eastern side of the country, so maybe a little bit of drizzle in the air over parts of southeast Scotland and northeast England.
“That low pressure will potentially bring one or two scattered heavy showers across Devon Cornwall and maybe the Isles of Scilly but, again, like Tuesday's heavy showers, they'll be very hit and miss with the vast majority staying dry fine and sunny.
“However, we'll notice more and more of this breeze that's going to have even more of an influence on the temperatures. We'll be struggling in the low teens in places elsewhere in land perhaps not quite as warm as Tuesday but still up to 23 24 that's going to feel pretty warm."
