Met Office daily weather: Fine, dry and widely sunny
The UK is set to enjoy a spell of fine and dry weather on Friday with widespread sunshine and above-average temperatures expected across much of the country.
According to latest forecast, most regions will bask in warm conditions, particularly in Wales, southern and western England, and western Scotland, where temperatures could reach a balmy 24-25°C.
While the majority of the UK will enjoy clear skies and sunshine, some North Sea coastal areas of England and northeastern Scotland will experience cooler, cloudier conditions due to onshore breezes. These areas may also see brisk winds, especially in the far east, which could temper the warmth felt elsewhere.
Friday night will bring a shift in conditions for parts of the country. Low cloud is forecast to spread inland from the east, covering much of England and southeastern Scotland by the early hours of Saturday. Western and northern parts of the UK, however, are expected to remain clear. Some eastern areas may see spots of drizzle, and temperatures will dip, particularly in northern and western regions, leading to a chilly night.

Weekend outlook
Saturday will begin with extensive low cloud across central and eastern areas. This cloud is expected to gradually break up and retreat back toward the east coast during the morning, although some eastern coastal areas and parts of the far north may remain overcast throughout the day. Elsewhere, conditions will be dry with plenty of sunshine.
Winds will be light to moderate for most, though they may be locally fresh along eastern coasts. Temperatures will again be warm or very warm in many areas, though cooler conditions are likely to persist along windward coasts.
Met Office presenter and meteorologist, Aidan McGivern, said: "High pressure is keeping weather systems away from the UK at least until the middle of next week. And that means it’s going to stay dry. But, It doesn’t mean it’s going to stay sunny and warm everywhere, because we’ve got an easterly wind thanks to that high pressure, and that easterly wind is pulling in, from time to time, areas of cloud further into eastern parts of the UK. That easterly wind really makes a difference—temperatures along the east coast of Scotland and England will only reach 12 to 15°C, while further inland, where the sun is shining, it’ll feel much warmer with highs in the upper teens to low 20s.
"And very little changes day to day. Regionally, things will change. The cloud will come and go across North Sea coasts, and sometimes it will creep further inland to affect, say, parts of the Midlands and southern England, East Wales perhaps. But it will ebb and flow, and by day it will tend to burn back to the immediate coast over the next few days. So Friday into Saturday and Sunday, we’ll see cloudy conditions to start off with across some central and eastern parts of England, perhaps into Wales."
