Met Office daily weather: A mix of cloud and sunshine
The weather on Tuesday and Wednesday is set to bring a mix of sunshine, cloud, and the occasional light shower.
While daytime temperatures will feel pleasant in many areas, chilly nights and a brisk breeze in the southeast will keep things feeling fresh.
Tuesday will bring generally dry conditions with sunny intervals across much of the country. However, cloudier skies and isolated light showers are expected in parts of the far north and eastern/southeastern England. The Midlands and Northern Ireland may also see increased cloud cover later in the day. Winds will be light for most, though the far southeast will remain breezy. Temperatures will be near or slightly above average, reaching 17–19°C in sheltered areas, though it may feel cooler in cloudier or windier regions.
Overnight into Wednesday, skies will clear for many, leading to a chilly night with the potential for grass frost or even local air frost in rural areas. Fog patches may also develop by dawn, particularly where skies remain clear.
After a chilly start, Tuesday will be another dry day for most of us. But will it be sunny or cloudy where you are?

Wednesday continues the trend of fine and dry weather for most, with variable cloud and sunny intervals. Some medium and high cloud may make the sunshine appear hazy at times. The far north and southeast may see more persistent cloud and a few light showers. Temperatures will vary significantly, with highs of 18–20°C in the west and southwest—possibly reaching 21°C in central southern areas—while the east remains much cooler, with low double figures and a noticeable chill from a northeasterly breeze.
Wednesday night will be mostly dry with clear spells, and a slight frost is possible in the west where skies remain clear.
Craig Snell, Met Office presenter and meteorologist, said: "We’ll see some cloud coming and going from the North Sea at times, and by Tuesday afternoon it’s likely to turn quite overcast across the Midlands and central southern England.
"The cloud could be thick enough in places to produce the odd spot of rain, but for most of the UK it will stay dry, with the best of the sunshine in western areas where temperatures could reach 16 to 18°C. However, if you’re under the cloud and exposed to the brisk breeze in the southeast, it will feel fairly chilly and, compared to last week, rather disappointing.
"Looking ahead to midweek, high pressure remains in charge on Wednesday, keeping things settled. Eastern areas will see the cloudiest skies, though even here there’ll be some bright spells.
"Northern Ireland, western Scotland, and parts of southwestern England will enjoy the best sunshine, with highs again around 16 to 18°C, possibly 19°C in a few spots. But along the eastern coast, it’ll still feel quite chilly under the cloud and breeze."
