Met Office daily weather: Sunny but feeling cooler midweek
The weather is set to bring a largely dry and settled spell midweek, with a mix of sunshine, cloud, and cooler conditions in some areas.
Wednesday will see most parts of the country enjoying fine and dry weather, with variable cloud cover and sunny intervals. However, the sunshine may appear hazy at times due to patches of medium and high-level cloud. The far north and parts of the east and southeast could see more persistent cloud and the chance of a few light showers.
Temperatures will vary significantly across the country. The west and southwest are expected to be the warmest, with highs of 18–20°C and possibly reaching 21°C in central and southern areas such as Oxford. In contrast, the east will feel much cooler, with temperatures in the low double figures. A northeasterly breeze will add to the chill, particularly in the southeast.

Wednesday night will remain mostly dry with clear spells and variable cloud. Where skies stay clear, especially in western areas, isolated slight frosts are possible.
Thursday continues the trend of largely dry conditions, with a mix of cloud and sunny spells. A few isolated light showers may develop, particularly in central regions and the far north. Winds will be generally light to moderate, though could feel fresher in the far southeast. After a cold start in some areas, daytime temperatures are expected to be close to seasonal averages.
Craig Snell, Met Office presenter and meteorologist, said: "Looking ahead to midweek, high pressure remains in charge on Wednesday, keeping things settled. Eastern areas will see the cloudiest skies, though even here there’ll be some bright spells.
"Northern Ireland, western Scotland, and parts of southwestern England will enjoy the best sunshine, with highs again around 16 to 18°C, possibly 19°C in a few spots. But along the eastern coast, it’ll still feel quite chilly under the cloud and breeze.
“Moving into Thursday we may see some subtle changes. We could potentially see a greater chance of seeing some showers moving in from the North Sea. But with high pressure still in charge for most of us, it should remain dry.
“Some showers potentially moving as far west as the Midlands as the day goes on, with the best of sunshine for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and then maybe later on down towards East Anglia and the southeast as some drier air begins to move in from the continent.
“Temperatures on Thursday again into the high teens where we do see the sunshine, but if you're stuck under the cloud, probably low to mid-teens at best.”
