Met Office daily weather: Largely settled as high pressure continues to dominate
The UK is set for a largely settled spell of weather as we head into the latter part of the week, with a mix of sunshine and patchy cloud.
Thursday will begin with a few light showers, mainly across central and eastern England, but these will quickly fade, leaving most areas dry. Expect a mix of variable cloud and sunny spells throughout the day. It will feel breezy at times, particularly in the far southeast.
After a chilly start, temperatures will vary significantly across the country. Coastal areas along the North Sea will remain rather cool, while central and western parts, including Wales, western England, and central Scotland, will enjoy the warmest conditions, with highs reaching the upper teens Celsius, and possibly touching 20°C in some spots.

Thursday night will be mostly dry and calm, with clear spells and variable cloud cover. Localised frost is likely, especially in rural areas stretching from eastern Scotland and northeast England through the Midlands and into parts of Wales and the southwest. Some low cloud and isolated fog patches may develop, particularly in central and eastern England.

Friday will start off with a few isolated fog patches, but these will quickly lift to reveal a fine day for most. Expect long periods of sunshine and dry conditions across much of the UK. The far northwest may see more cloud and the odd spot of light rain. Winds will be generally light to moderate, though locally fresh in the far southeast and northwest. After a cold start in places, daytime temperatures will be near normal or slightly above, making for a pleasant spring day.
Met Office presenter and meteorologist, Craig Snell, said: “We could potentially see a greater chance of seeing some showers moving in from the North Sea. But with high pressure still in charge for most of us, it should remain dry.
"There could be some showers potentially moving as far west as the Midlands as the day goes on, with the best of sunshine for Scotland, Northern Ireland, and then maybe later on down towards East Anglia and the southeast as some drier air begins to move in from the continent.
"Temperatures on Thursday, again, high teens where we do see the sunshine, but if you're stuck under the cloud, probably low to mid-teens at best.
"Friday is still seeing this high pressure in charge. We could just see a weather front towards the northwest of us maybe just start to influence the weather for northwestern parts of Scotland, so maybe some thicker cloud and maybe the odd spot of rain here.
"For most of us, plenty of sunshine around. Do remember we will be seeing moderate to high UV levels where we do see the sunshine this week. But for most of us, temperatures potentially climbing up into the low 20s if we do see that sunshine."
