A changeable spell of weather is expected across the UK this weekend
A changeable spell of weather is expected across the UK this weekend, bringing a mix of brighter intervals, spells of rain and a cooler feel developing into Sunday and Monday.
Here is the forecast outlook for each of this week’s Premier League and Women’s Super League fixtures.
Brighton & Hove Albion v Wolverhampton Wanderers – Saturday 9 May, 15:00
Saturday afternoon on the south coast looks largely favourable, with warm bright spells dominating through much of the day. It will become breezier as the afternoon goes on, and there is a small risk of a few showers developing later. Many areas are likely to stay dry, with temperatures reaching around 18 °C.
Fulham v AFC Bournemouth – Saturday 9 May, 15:00
Conditions in west London will be similar, with warm sunny intervals and plenty of dry weather expected during the afternoon. Winds will pick up later, which may introduce the risk of isolated showers, although most places should remain dry. Maximum temperatures are expected to reach about 18 °C.
Sunderland v Manchester United – Saturday 9 May, 15:00
A more unsettled picture is expected in the north east. A band of rain, heavy at times, is likely to continue moving slowly south-eastwards during the day. As the rain clears later, skies may break, but a brisk breeze will make it feel cooler. Maximum temperatures are likely to be around 11 °C.
Liverpool v Chelsea – Saturday 9 May, 12:30
Saturday lunchtime should begin dry and bright, especially early on. As the day progresses, showery rain is expected to spread across the region, with the odd heavier shower possible. Despite the showers, it should feel relatively warm in any sunshine, with temperatures reaching around 17 °C.
Manchester City v Brentford – Saturday 9 May, 17:30
In Manchester, the day will start dry and bright, but showery rain is likely to become more widespread through the afternoon and early evening. While rainfall will be hit and miss, some heavier showers are possible. Any brighter spells will help temperatures climb to around 17 °C.
Burnley v Aston Villa – Sunday 10 May, 14:00
By Sunday, conditions turn drier across much of the country. In Lancashire, it will feel noticeably cooler than Saturday, with brighter spells becoming more prevalent. Winds will remain noticeable, adding to the cooler feel, but overall it should be a settled afternoon for football.

Crystal Palace v Everton – Sunday 10 May, 14:00
A narrow band of rain is expected to move southwards through the day. Any heavier rain should clear relatively quickly, followed by brighter skies and drier conditions. Temperatures will be modest, but conditions should improve steadily as the afternoon goes on.
Nottingham Forest v Newcastle United – Sunday 10 May, 14:00
Rain is expected to clear southwards early on Sunday, allowing brighter skies to develop later. The afternoon should become largely dry, though a brisk breeze may persist, adding a cooler edge despite improving conditions.
West Ham United v Arsenal – Sunday 10 May, 16:30
Rain clearing earlier in the afternoon should give way to brighter spells across London. Once the rain has moved away, conditions should steadily improve, though temperatures will remain on the cool side for May, particularly in the breeze.
Tottenham Hotspur v Leeds United – Monday 11 May, 20:00
Monday evening brings a further change, with showers expected to affect many areas. It will often be breezy, making it feel cooler than over the weekend. Showers are likely to be well scattered rather than persistent, but conditions may remain changeable during the evening.
Aston Villa v Arsenal (Women’s Super League) – Saturday 9 May, 12:00
Saturday lunchtime in Birmingham should start bright, with some good spells of sunshine. Cloud will gradually increase through the day, and a few showers may develop by the afternoon. Despite this, it should feel warm for the time of year, with temperatures potentially reaching around 19 °C.
