Met Office weather: Wet and windy weather before a cooler Tuesday
Unsettled conditions will affect much of the UK on Monday, with bands of rain and showers moving eastwards
Rain and showers will spread eastwards across England and Wales during Monday morning. These will become more fragmented by late morning or early afternoon, allowing some drier intervals to develop. However, another area of rain will reach northwest England and Wales during the evening.
Scotland and Northern Ireland will see bands of rain and showers travelling east-south-eastwards. Some of these could be locally heavy and accompanied by squally gusts, with the showers merging into longer periods of rain at times. Winds will strengthen across the far northwest, where gales are likely.
Despite the unsettled weather, it will remain warm across much of England and Wales, and locally very warm in southeast England. Temperatures in Scotland and Northern Ireland will be nearer the seasonal average.
