The Met Office provides a wide range of forecasts and warnings to help the public make informed decisions about day to day activities. These include forecasts for more than 10,000 locations worldwide (UK and world) and regional text forecasts within the UK as well as more specialist forecasts for leisure activities such as walking in the mountains and beach safety. In addition we provide severe weather warnings to help safeguard life and property. We make our forecasts and warnings available through a wide range of platforms including the web, mobile phones and social media.

National Meteorological Library and Archive - Open to Everyone (charges for reproduction may apply please see the Pricing Schedule for more information). Both the Library and Archive are open to everyone and offer a range of services (please note visits to the Archive must be arranged by appointment). Met Office Library and Archive staff can conduct enquiries for historical weather information, subject to a 30 minute research limit. Please see the Search the online catalogue for further information about the collections and information available, some of which may only be available to view on site.

Weather Observations Website - World view

The 'Weather Observations Website' (WOW) reflects recent advances in technology and how weather observations can be made. At the same time, the growing world of social networking online makes it relatively easy for anyone to get involved and share their weather observations. The Met Office is helping to co-ordinate the growth of the weather observing community in the UK, by asking anyone to submit the observations they are taking. This can be done using all levels of equipment, so there are no cost restrictions. There are no charges for using WOW. All you need to do is complete a short Weather Observations Website - World view

Met Office DataPoint

DataPoint is a way of accessing Met Office data feeds in a format that is suitable for application developers. It is aimed at professionals, the scientific community and student or amateur developers (in fact anyone looking to re-use Met Office data within their own innovative applications).
