WCSSP impact and benefits
The Weather and Climate Science for Service Partnership (WCSSP) programme is delivering essential weather and climate knowledge and services to protect lives and livelihoods.
The programme is harnessing scientific expertise to strengthen the resilience of communities in China, Brazil, South Africa, India and Southeast Asia to weather and climate variability.
Its impacts and benefits include:

Building a network of international partnerships involving more than 600 researchers from 60+ institutes and organisations.

Training more than 600 people, including early career researching, to transfer knowledge and develop their skills.

Conducting world-leading pioneering research, with over 900 papers published in international journals and over 30,000 citations by academia.

Showcasing the research at more than 400 workshops and conferences and informing over 100 research exchange visits, accelerating scientific knowledge and expertise.

Developing 60+ new or improved weather and climate service prototypes, and stimulating over £26 million of additional research funding.

Resulting in more than 2 million views and 350,000 downloads of its publications, citied in 350+ policy documents. These include policy documents for including governments, Think Tanks and Intergovernmental Organisations such as the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and the United Nations.
