The Met Office Wastewater Workshop for Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans

Event: Wastewater Workshop 9/10/2019

Explore innovative solutions and help shape future services for integration into your Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans to improve wastewater resilience.

According to OFWAT - “Population growth and climate change mean that the water sector in England and Wales faces growing pressure to address challenges while improving the resilience of systems and services to customers. This all takes place in a world of rising customer expectations and new opportunities to innovate to deliver services.”

We are bringing together wastewater industry representatives to discuss and collaborate on bringing science to the forefront to enhance wastewater resilience.

By attending this workshop, you will:

  • Be part of a group forming coherent, science-based solutions to wastewater challenges.

  • Be influential in developing tools and products for industry use.

  • Be knowledgeable about the role and capability of weather and climate inputs into Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans.

The workshop is designed as an interactive knowledge sharing forum to help:

  1. Develop a common understanding of requirements placed on water companies regarding wastewater where weather and climate have an impact.
  2. Shape the direction of research and development in weather and climate services for integrating into new Drainage and Wastewater Management Plans.
  3. Determine the key linkages between weather and climate and wastewater management.
  4. Deliver a common understanding of latest relevant weather and climate data (including UKCP18), capability and knowledge.
