Met Office daily weather: More warm weather to come this week
A shift in conditions is expected across parts of the UK, with varying skies and occasional unsettled weather moving in from the northwest.
A band of cloud accompanied by increasingly patchy rain and drizzle will edge southeastwards into northern England and north Wales through the day. Behind this, brighter conditions will develop across Scotland and Northern Ireland, although a scattering of showers is expected, particularly in northern and western areas.
Elsewhere across England and Wales, it will be a fine day with plenty of warm sunshine. Central, southern, and southeastern parts will see the best of the conditions, with temperatures climbing into the mid-20s Celsius.

A few locations may reach highs of 27°C, with a low probability of 28°C in the warmest spots. Further north, temperatures will be slightly lower following the passage of a weak cold front, but still reaching the low 20s Celsius east of high ground.
Overnight, the band of low cloud and isolated drizzle will become slow-moving across northern England and Wales. To the south, conditions will remain largely fine, though a few fog patches may form in rural areas under clear skies. Northern parts of the UK will see clearer spells, though a few showers will persist in northern and western Scotland, where it will remain breezy. Temperatures will fall into the mid-single figures in sheltered rural spots behind the cold front, but will generally remain mild elsewhere.

The warm and sunny conditions this week may be welcome by some

Met Office presenter and meteorologist, Aidan McGivern, said: “High pressure near the Azors is extending its influence towards the UK, shifting weather systems further north and keeping this rainfall, mostly across northern and western Scotland where it will be breezy at times, and there'll be perhaps some heavy rain over western hills. But otherwise, for much of the UK, with that high pressure building in, it's drier and it's more settled.”
